After an ancient world-wide catastrophe, the Tatsu population was reduced to near extinction.
Now, centuries later, this once-proud race
is making a comeback.
Although they feel the urge to munch on Aishas, they are able to restrain themselves to look civilized.
The Tatsu evolved from the dragon-like Cerpull, one of the original pets, on July 13, 2000. Cerpull owners were rather upset and displeased with the change, having traded a nose horn and spiked back for a head-to-tail mullet.
After months of pleading, Neopets decided to redesign
Tatsu from a dragon to a griffin. Members were allowed to vote for their
favorite in a "Choose-A-Tatsu" poll. The winner was chosen on January 26th 2001,
and later became known as the Eyrie.
