The magic of the Krawk Island Fungus Cave is used to transform these baby reptiles into fully-grown Krawks! Krawks are loyal creatures with an appetite for mischief and a very vicious bite!

Resembling large caiman or crocodiles in appearance, most Krawks come from Krawk Island. They boast many sharp teeth, an acute sense of smell, and excellent vision.

Krawks evolved from rare Tyrannian Petpets that were driven out of Tyrannia and onto an island in the sea. Petpet Krawks are transformed into Neopets using the fungus from the Krawk Island Fungus Cave. In game terms, this means that they are "restricted" species and cannot be created by players in the usual way. As a result, they are the rarest species of Neopet.

Their transformation from Petpets was first introduced on January 10, 2002. When they transform, they retain their color from when they were a petpet. Because of this rare ability, Krawk petpets are one of the most expensive items on the Neopets market. Prices for Krawk petpets can range from 800k (or the neopets denomination for 1,000) to almost 5 million, depending on the color of the Krawk. (Though it should be noted that Neopets cannot be bought, sold, or rented. (See the Terms and Conditions).

In the Neopets TCG, Krawks are associated with the element of darkness. As of June 2007, roughly 2,300 have been created, making them the least popular Neopet and the winner of the "Wooden Spoon Award". Their status as least popular can be accounted for by their "restricted" status. April 16th is Krawk Day.
